Hello: Hola. Pronounced “oh-la”. This is the most common Spanish greeting.

Massive Attack’s 3D on their new album

Glass making and glass bead making within the Czech Republic is dated back as far as the early bronze age, when the region was settled by Celts who possessed the skills of glass-making and enameling. Not only were the Celts involved in bead making and glass making, but so were the Monks in Benedictine monasteries. A glass mosaic titled �??Day of Judgment�?� which embellishes the golden gate of St.Vitus’s Cathedral in Prague is a testament to the skill of these medieval glass-makers.

Czech glass can be found in Corinthian excavations dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. During this time, the art of glass making ceased to the solely the milieu of Monks and it moved out into the forests where many cottage glass-works arose. Vast quantities of wood were needed to fuel the furnaces, so the densest forests became the centers for this early art form.

The forest glass-works created “forest glass” of a greenish color created by imperfect refining of raw the materials potash and quartz sand�?”the main ingredients in glass.

In 1588, Emperor Rudolf the 2nd invited Mr. Ottavio Miseroni, the first person to perfect the art of cutting and shaping diamonds, to Prague. Miseroni opened a workshop for cutting diamonds. With his diamond cutters, he discovered a way to decorate glass by using stone or copper wheels. Engraving was born. The most important craftsman in Prague to come from Miseroni’s workshop was Caspar Lehmann, who became an Imperial Court engraver. Rudolf the 2nd became a generous sponsor and Prague became the center of this new glass craft. From Prague, the craft spread to all of Europe.

During the 1600s, the popularity of engraved glass continued to increase and by the end of the 17th Century, Czech glass achieved world wide recognition. Particularly fire-polished beads, have been produced in the area of the Czech Republic for over 200 years. This craft started as a cottage industry with the forest glass makers, but today the art of crafting Czech faceted beads is done in a factory.

They are such a huge part of Czech industry that the Soviet Union created a state agency called Jablonex to distribute the beads. The breakup of the USSR saw a resurgence of onesproduced in cottage industries. Today, there are many companies that export Czech facetted beads to over 80 countries. The small enterprises are greatly assisted by the fact that Jablonex is no longer taking on any new United States clients.

The most common shape for the Czech bead is round, although the fire polished beads are more oblong. They are available in other shapes, too: bicone, rondelle, roller, roundlet, pear and parachute. The fire polished ones come in a variety of colors. The richness of color is one of the earmarks of Czech beads.

Most people think all fire polished beads come from the Czech Republic. In the last ten years or so, India has begun producing them too. Fire polished beads are distinguishable by there soft rounded edges on the face.

This is a PlayStation Portable exclusive video game that centers around Kratos. The game is a prequel to God of War and God War 2 on the PlayStation 2. Gamers will be able to delve into Kratos�?? lifestyle prior to the unfortunate death of this wife and child. From the looks of it, God of War: Chains of Olympus looks as brutal as the PlayStation 2 games. Kratos will be armed with his usual chain blades and his ego. Even though God of War:

Chains of Olympus is a PSP game, it looks as if it was made on the PlayStation 2. The audio holds up nicely, and the visuals are right on par with the PlayStation 2 counterparts. There will no doubt be some memorable boss battles in the final iteration of God of War: Chains of Olympus, and the contact sensitive moments should be as flawless as ever. God of War fans will feel right at home with the controls. Kratos�?? maneuvers are fairly easily to execute and significantly satisfying. Pulverizing adversaries are as engrossing as the previous games.

One notable alteration to the controls is that evading is performed with the two shoulder buttons since there is no analog stick on the PSP. There was absolutely no blunders with the frame rate, and everything ran smoothly. God of War: Chains of Olympus appears to push the PSP to the limits visually. Some opponents that Kratos encountered in the demo was a Cyclops and another enormous monster. The majority of the demo was action packed, but there were some minor puzzle solving aspects. God of War: Chains of Olympus is not God of War 3, but it will be the next best thing. The game is slated for a 2008 release date.

The origins of the game of basketball can be traced back to a gentleman by the name of Dr. James Naismith. In 1861, Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. During his early school days, Naismith would play a game called duck on a rock whereby the child would endeavor to knock the duck off the top of the rock with a toss of another rock.

Later on, Naismith would go on to McGill University in Montreal and would later become McGill University’s Athletic Director. He would subsequently move on to YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts and in 1891, the game of basketball began.

Given the cold Massachusetts winters, Naismith needed to find a recreational activity that could be played indoors and he preferred a sport that would develop skill and one that was not exclusively relying on strength. The first game was played with two peach baskets for goals and a soccer ball.

Further to his credit, Naismith became a medical doctor specializing in sports physiology and a Presbyterian minister. Naismith was able to see his beloved sport of basketball, gain acceptance in numerous countries through the YMCA since 1893. As well, the sport of basketball was brought forth at the Berlin Olympics in 1936. As we speak, the game of basketball has become a very popular professional sport.

Could being anal about planning be serious cause of failure? When does too much planning create negative results? Is it now possible to say, “if you fail to plan, you plan to win?”

Now I know that’s turning upside down on its head that age-old saying that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. And I’m here to say that that is not entirely true, especially in today’s highly robust market. So stick with me. Stick with me and you’re going to be set free, okay; especially those of you that seem to have a planning impediment.

Here’s the thing. Planning is designed for controlled environments.

So if you’re creating products, you can actually plan to create products. So if you have a product creation plan, congratulations. It will probably work. Why? Creating products is something we can easily control because we control everything that goes into that process.

Want to bake a cake? Get a plan, it will work.

Why?

Because you can control the environment. You can control the temperature, you you can control the utensils, you can control the ingredients.

Now watch this.

Every dollar that you want to make in your business is in a contested environment.

So what does that mean?

It means, that the very plan you seek is probably the very thing that is destroying your success because most people use plans as straight-jackets. When the plan becomes a straight-jacket and you go out into a contested environment to make your money… you smash against a wall and something doesn’t work.

Why? Because planning does not work in contested environments; it requires strategy. Think about playing chess.

For those of you that play chess, this will be easy for you to get. And if you don’t play chess, you probably know how to play checkers at least. It’s not likely you’re going to win that way.

High levels of the “hunger hormone” ghrelin have an antidepressant effect, US researchers claim.

As far as I know, the bristle dart board has never been made from boar bristles, I may be wrong, but I have never seen one made that way. I know there are places on the web that proclaim that the board was made of boar bristles once upon a time, but I checked on Patrick Chaplin’s site and he is a Professor of darts .. No really, he is the first professor of darts in the world.

The “bristles” are actually pieces of rope tied together to make a small bundle. Lots of bundles are then put on a wooden base and compressed together using a steel ring. The face of the board is then sanded down and the dyes added to give the segments their different colours and then the “spider” or steel segment dividers are added. The number ring is put on the outside and hey presto; you have a bristle dart board.

The first one was made by Nodor, which is a bit odd as they were a company that made modelling clay and their boast was that the clay had no odour, hence the name Nodor. As a sideline, they made a plasticine type dart board, which was not a great success, the idea being you could reshape the clay to get rid of the holes and use the board again and again. Remember at the time most dart boards were made from wood.

Then some bright spark had the idea of making a dart board from rope and went to Nodor with the idea! This odd idea was proved to be a workable solution and Nodor patented the idea in 1933. The patent gave them exclusive rights to make this revolutionary dartboard for 20 years or so and then everyone else jumped on board to make these classic dartboards.

Now Nodor had competition most noticeably from WinMau. Now the race was on to produce better and better versions of the original Bristle dart board; staple free bulls eyes and thinner wire shaped in a diamond shape to reduce the dreaded bounce outs appeared. They also reduced the gauge of the wire used in making the spider, so much so that the present boards have 20% or more extra space for the darts to hit.

This means that these days all of the premium tournament boards are staple free and have ultra thin wire segment dividers. Winmau has its Blade III board and Nodor its Supawires board and now there are a whole host of other makes as well which all have increased scoring areas like the DMI Bandit that is totally staple free. All of these developed staple free bulls eyes and thin spiders increasing the overall scoring area. The Bristle dart board is at the peak of its development, giving rise to increased scores compared to the past due to those ultra thin wires and increased scoring areas.

As for the future of the Bristle dart board, I think it is still bright, as nothing quite matches the look, sound and feel of a classic bristle board not withstanding the incredible developments of the electronic dart board.
